He forgot to clear his breakfast dishes. I refuse to nag. I refuse to remind. The dishes still sit there on the table....waiting. Waiting for me to come up with the right "Natural Consequence".
That term, "Natural Consequences", makes you feel as if you should be able to easily see what is the best consequence for any behavior....after all, it's "NATURAL", right?

Don't you wish there was a "Natural Consequence Generator"? One of those little aps you put on your desktop and all you have to do is input the misbehavior and click....the perfect "Natural Consequence" is shown in the box.

I would pay good money for that! Wouldn't you?

Dinner goes on the same dishes, or no dinner because there's nowhere to set his place. If he clears his dishes, he can have dinner.

That would have been a good idea! Next time. I just ended up making him put off his free time activity until he figured out what he hadn't done yet. I refused to tell him what it was, he had to figured it out.

Hmmm, how about his dinner goes on the same dishes? Sort of disgusting, I admit, but maybe a natural consequence?
