The Community for Catholic Moms

This past Sunday after the 10:30 Mass, we had a unveiling of a Good Shepherd Statue (Good Shepherd Church) that I had donated a while back. It had been put away until a decision was made as to where it would be placed that would best suit the needs of the parish. We knew that we wanted an area where people could come and sit and pray a bit.

Boyscouts to the rescue! The troup needed to do their project and they found the perfect spot... near the entrance of the chapel, off to the side of the main church. It can be seen from the front of the church, almost becking people to come and stay a while.

They purchased a granite boulder stand where the statue was place (most beautiful piece) then, they landscaped around and down to the walkway with brown mulch, plants, pebbles and stepping stones. The back of the wall, they painted a terra-cotta color and made a structure for the top as well as two benches, also of the same color. The statue is golden and about 5 ft, so it went well with the colors and looked splendid. Very impressive!

When we unveiled the statue, Fr. Mike announced that the area will be used as a memorial so that parishioners can have plaques placed for their love-ones or special intent. There will be more lighting and also a continuous burning flame that will be added later on.

I cannot sing the scouts praises enough! They truly are an inspiration for the youth of this country to follow and their hard work and love for the Lord are evident by the outcome.

May all our young learn from them but more especially, learn what teamwork and dedication and love are all about.

God Bless the all the Scouts in America!
