The Community for Catholic Moms

My beautiful baby girl moved out of our house yesterday. She is 19 now and went to a community college last year so she was still home. I expected that she would still live at home for another couple years. She only moved in with her father (I am divorced and remarried) who lives about a half hour away.

We have five children between the two of us and now four of them are on their own.

Oh my goodness do I ever hate it when they leave!

And, I must say this takes me quite by surprise as there were times when I didn't like it very much when they were here.

I will miss her so very very much.

Any other empty nesters out there?

How do you get over the loss of seeing them every day? I have already had three others before her move out but each circumstance was different. You would think it would get easier every time but it doesn't really. It's just different.

Honestly, it seems as if everywhere I turn people have all sorts of advice about small children. Not to much out there about older teens or young adults. It would be very nice to be able to share experiences with another mom that is beyond the young years.

We put every single thing we have into them and then we have to let them go.

Oh my gosh, do I ever know where you're coming from! Our 3rd child (of 4) left for college just a few weeks ago. I can't believe that he drove me so nuts last school year and that I now miss him so bad!! Fortunately he lives close and can come home often. I agree, though, that you give them EVERYTHING, and then it is so hard to let go!
