I am a Catholic wife, mom, and grandma. I work part-time at our computer business. The rest of the time is devoted to helping my daughter with my little grandaughter, and praying for our little grandson who is due on the Feast of St. Jude, Oct. 28th.

I love the Faith and Family magazine and website, and eventhough I am a grandma, I enjoy and learn alot from reading the wonderful blogs.

Hi Colleen-

We need to put our trust in the Lord and all our sufferings should be well spent by offering them for conversions and souls in purgatory.

Every time I offer it, especially when I am having a really hard time breathing, the Lord helps me to calm down and eases it... at first I thought it was my imagination, but it happens every single time without fail. I know that He is near every one of us in our sufferings.

Congratulations on the grandbabies! They bring the most joy because we can have the opportunity to see our kids little again.. and probably enjoy them a bit more as we may have some extra time on our hands that we did not have when our own were growing up.

Every day is a blessings Colleen. We offer to the Lord for His glory and move forward.

No, I do not make the graphics... but I have many of them in files. I think it brings a little cheer or peace.
Many blessings to you and yours and I will keep you in my prayers as well.

God bless-
Maria

Hi Colleen,
I too feel I have found a friend. I've tried a couple of times before getting into a couple Catholic sites but this one is different. I already feel connected. I have been involved with a charismatic prayer group over the years, but all in all I'm just a plain ol' traditional Roman Catholic. I'd like to know more about your being a secular Franciscan and more of the Carmelite Spirituality. I love St. Therese of Lisieux. We have a beautiful shrine about 2 hours from our home in Darien, Illinois.
As for me,I would describe myself as a Catholic nomad at times. We have searched for years to find churches which have more traditional priests. I love all forms of the Mass but I do love the Latin Mass and the music. I was raised on it as a child in the Catholic schools with the sisters. Contrary to secular cultural views, I loved the sisters. There were countless sisters who touched my life. Sister Mary Louise, Sister Mary Ann, Sister Irma (all Benedictine OSB, in Florida) and Sister Adelicia, Sister Morola, and Sister Crucita (School Sisters of Notre Dame, SSND, Milwaukee). I hope and pray that more religious vocations will flourish for priests and sisters. I realized as I was writing to you that as a child we moved around a lot. I had wonderful Holy influences that truly helped me know and love Jesus. Perhaps that influenced my need to seek churches with a more traditional way. I will tell you that in the late sixties and seventies, my heart was wavering. It was my non-Catholic protestant friends who got me back on track. I learned so much from them. Their love of scripture continues to spur me on today. But when I finally had to make the decision to stay or leave the Church, it was the Eucharist I could not leave. I could not give up my Jesus who had sustained me, walked with me when wherever I went. Well enough for now.
Have a blessed day, my new friend. I look forward to hearing about your spirituality. My oldest grandson is here during the day while my son and daughter-in-law are at work. He is a joy. So for now I need to go.
Blessings in Christ Jesus,
Joannie

Hi Colleen,
Thank you for your kind words and offering of prayer. I know too well the ache in my heart for my sons who seems so far away from truth in the Love of Christ and His Holy Mother. Our youngest daughter who came late in life is doing so much better. I never get overly confident because the world becons our children in its snare all the time. She is 25 teaches and is still at home. She is a blessing. For the boys all we can do is pray and love them. My husband Sam of almost 40 years is a strong traditional Catholic. He is more influential on the boys today than I am. He wasn't always comfortable in his father role and I often took over too much and interfered. We're making up for this now. Isn't it amazing we never stop learning? God is so good. I can see our Heavenly Father folding His arms and saying, "I knew you'd finally get it". Know I will keep you and your family in my prayers daily. I firmly believe that change in our culture will come through stronger families. Hang in there. I look forward to having you for a friend and prayer warrior. Blessings in Christ Jesus, (Nana) Joannie

Hi Colleen,
Phases of Womanhood is an organization that was started by a group of lay woman in the Arlington Diocese to support other Catholic woman in whatever phase of life they are in. I have been blessed to attend their seminars and teas. I found great support among their numbers. They have a fabulous website www.phasesofwomanhood.org that is filled with wonderful articles and blog posts about every phase of womanhood. It's a fabulous way to share more about our cathlicity. You can get on their mailing list to find out when the next event is. You can also follow the website if you live outside of the Viginia, Maryland, Penssylvania area and are unable to attend. Take a peek. I think you may enjoy it. Blessings!

Hi Colleen-
Welcome to the prayer request group! Feel free to add your prayers and/or favorite devotions. The best thing we can do for each other is pray.

You sure do keep busy. My grandkids live out of state but when they come down... I spoil them a little. Enjoy every minute.

God Bless!
