Let's talk summer and working from home. It can truly be a challenging time on so many levels. Can you share a tip or two on what you do to keep business "up and running" during the more laid back months of the year?
I adjust my working hours to start around 4:00am so that when the kids are awake, I can focus on them.
Planning simple meals that take less time to prepare give me more time to do other things
Write your schedule down
Time your activities to avoid wasting time.
Prioritize and simply decide that family is first when they are all around, the fall, winter and spring gives you more business time if the kids are in school. Use the summer to recharge.
I recently hired a babysitter to help me two mornings a week. I work for 3 hours in my home office while she plays with my little ones. I find this greatly reduces my stress level and frees up time in the evening so we can have more family time and a more relaxed bathtime routine. Previously I had been rushing the kids to bed so I could work after bedtime. Now we can have a more relaxed evening, which is perfect for the summer.
Another time saving tip-at least one night a week we have a cold dinner-usually salad and bread. This cuts down on cooking and prep and gives me more time for everything else going on in the summer.
