Hello, ladies. As the temperatures start going up, I thought we could talk about ways to welcome people into our homes in the summertime. Children are generally out of school now, and families are generally more available for visiting if they aren't taking a vacation elsewhere.
What ways do your families show hospitality towards others?
For example, my kids have birthdays in January, March, April, August, September and December. Here in the outskirts of Colorado Springs it is difficult to plan a birthday party from November through April because of the very real possibility of having to cancel due to blizzards! So, we have decided to have one birthday party for ALL the kids every summer. We invite all the families we know to a local park and provide cake and drinks for them. Then each family brings a picnic lunch and the kids have a great time playing for a few hours outdoors.
My parents have a swimming pool in their Southern California back yard, and every summer they open it up to all the Knights of Columbus and Birth Choice volunteers and their families and have a BBQ.
