Hi Jamie, this isn't a scrapbooking project per se, but it does involve using a stamp pad, which a lot of scrapbookers have, so: You take one of those "cubes" of note paper (or sticky notes would work, too) about 4"x4". Have a small child press the palm of their hand onto a ink pad, making sure the palm & all fingers gets well-inked. Then have them press their inky hand tight against the side of the paper cube, repeating with as many children or handprints as you need to cover all 4 sides of the cube. (One handprint per side.) The final cute touch is to have a handprint on the notepaper on the top of the pad. When it's dry, you write "You're the Best Grandma (aunt, babysitter, etc. ) Ever, Hands Down!" Makes a cute, quick gift with that personal touch.

I'm so glad everyone is enjoying the group! I'm going to be starting a discussion about Christmas projects that are in the works...I hope you'll post some of your ideas!

No Archiver's will not accept competitiors coupons, but michael's and joann's will! I've used a coupon from michael's, joanns, and hobby lobby all at the same time at Michael's and saved $$

Oh! Thanks, Amanda! I do have those stores here. Do you mean that Archivers will honor other stores' coupons? Or that those stores will honor Archivers coupons?

Paula,
I know what store your talking about....I copied they're examples for Christmas gifts. Using clear stamping blocks, you attach a photo to it and decorate, ends up looking like a frame....Really cool!
Also not sure if you have a Michael's, JoAnn's,or Hobby Lobby store near you but, you can take coupons to use and they will accept them!

I am new to scrapbookingand didn't really know where to start. So, I went into a store we have in town here called Archivers to ask for advice. It is incredible! They have everything I could hope to find and more, and they have workrooms you can use for free, and workshops you pay for as well as free classes.

I want to make a scrapbook for each of my children, but since I have 8 kids, I can't possibly do something nice in time for Christmas. So, I am planning on doing one at a time, and giving them to them on their birthdays. I don't plan on finishing them completely. I want to do maybe 4 or 5 pages for each, and then let them make more pages as the years go by.

The child whose birthday is next is my 7-year-old son. He is very into Cub Scouts right now, so that is the theme I will give the first few pages I make for him. His birthday is in December, so I will just concentrate on Cub Scouts and fall activities. In the Spring he will make his First Holy Communion, so I can add a page for that then.

Four of my daughters are involved in American Heritage Girls, so their birthday scrapbooks will have that overall theme.

I love the Sacrament scrapbook idea! I may do something like that for my youngest son, who is now 9 months old. I have a beautiful picture of him at his baptism that I haven't done anything with yet.

Thank you for starting this group!

A sacraments album sounds like a wonderful gift! How thoughtful of your friend! And you are so right, Lynn, about gladly preserving the memories for our children, but not pinning down our own "first person" experiences as readily.

How often is it that we won't take the time to do for ourselves what we will gladly do for our children? I love the idea of introducing the "faithbooking" concept as part of a day to scrapbook our kids' sacrament memories.

Before I even began scrapbooking, a friend of mine put together a whole (small) sacraments album for my son. She put in some Baptism photos & our invitation - and then designed the rest of the album for his other sacraments of initiation, with papers and stickers and everything but the pictures/mementos themselves. It was easy and beautiful to add his First Communion pics when it was time. Just tonight (how unbelievably timely), my son received his Confirmation, and he and I talked about getting the photos of the forever-precious evening into his book.

I wish I had a similar album for all of my kids, and I'd think moms would totally go for the blessing of a day creating that type of memory album (for their own family or a godchild). The rest of the faithbooking journey could be close behind. :)

Speaking as a scrapbooking "consumer", it would appeal to me if a consultant would sponsor a Saturday event at the Parish Center where people could work on scrapbooking the pictures from the baptisms, First Communions, Confirmation, etc.(that we all have piled up somewhere), in any format they chose. It would be neat if there were some classes or demos of the "faithbooking" concept put on as part of the day. I would definitely attend an event of that nature!
