Hey All!

I'm trying to really take in the season (currently Advent) with rich church traditions. I've done "ok" with Advent - but it's felt so busy (maybe pregnancy hormones make me feel less on top of things).

It will be less hectic after Christmas Day. I wondered what rich traditions for celebrating the 12 days of Christmas were out there. What are people celebrating, cooking, making, remembering. I know we have some rich feast days too!

So please, send me ideas!! :)

We've had celebrations on Epiphany- with a special cake. The wise men also move around the house and leave small gifts for the kids. I guess the biggest change we've made over the past couple of years is to not pull out most of our Christmas decorations till Christmas eve. We had a priest really emphasize this so we're still waiting to put our tree up. Hope this helps a little.
Growing up we did the Kings Cake on Epiphany with a bean or large nut hidden in for one of us to find and be crowned the King or Queen for the year. We also kept decorations up til Epiphany.
I hang up twelve little stockings and each day one of the kids picks out something, it might be that they choose the story for bed, or get a treat after dinner or are excused from cleaning up their toys for the night. On the 12th day, there is a small present under the tree for them, last year it was an age appropriate book about the three wise men for each of them!!
