OK folks, despite my best intentions I've been neglecting our weekly check ins. So here's one for the month of August. I've sent my boys back to school, so things have been a tad less chaotic (but also less fun) around our home this past week. As a result, I was able to get in a workout four days of the past seven. My two workout highlights for last week were a late evening walk with a good friend who just started back to work (we didn't get started until 7 pm, but it was great to talk about her new job) and a wonderful two hour hike on Sunday with my 17 year old. We went out to a local lake and hiked almost halfway around it! It was a cooler day here in Fresno, with temps below 90 and a tiiny bit of light rain to cool us off. One of those days where you can really feel God's bounty in His beautiful creation.

On the eating front, my party is over and now it's time to pay the piper after "goofing off" for the past month. Are you in the same boat?

Hope you can take a moment to "check in" and let us know how you're doing!

Hey Lisa,

Good for you, and no, you are not alone. I'm trying to get back as well. I've been doing a 30 Day Challenge on the Wii Active, and just completed the 30th day...I'm ready for my next challenge. It's helped me rethink what I'm eating too.

I'm too afraid to step on the scale, but my clothes still fit...so that is a success, right? :)

Thanks!
Definitely - What is the game you're using for the Wii? I really think the clothes fitting is a more important feedback for me than the number on a scale...
Maxine, You might be interested in listening to Greg and Jennifer of The Catholics Next Door talking about their experience with the program - Greg loves it. You can listen to a few of their shows online at http://gregandjennifer.com/?cat=147 for more information.
Howdy girls!

I am quite happy to say that I'm getting started on my running, and I'm looking for a book called Running: the Sacred Art. Eventually I'll find that and hopefully be able to make my running more prayerful. Until then, I'm just trying to follow a walk/run program and enjoy my time outside with our family dog. She and I both seem to enjoy our walk/run. Other than that I have been taking my kids to my Stroller Strides fitness classes about 4 days a week, this week will only be 3 times since they are starting gymnastics again, and we have our church playgroup this week too. I have noticed my pants fitting more loosely and I'm very happy for that, they were getting a bit tight.
have a great week everyone!

Jamie - what's Stroller Strides? Just curious!
Good Morning Lisa!
Stroller Strides is a Mom and Baby Fitness class, ours is held mostly at a local park or if the weather is bad at a local mall. The class consists of a walk or run depending on how hard the mommy wants to work, and "stations" where we stop and do resistance training or bursts of more intense cardio work. Its as intense as you want it to be, and its fun, we sing for the kids and they get to play after class. It was founded out in San Diego, and has franchises all over the country. I started going when my oldest daughter was 2 months old, and she's 3 now and my youngest is 2 so it helped me be active while I was pregnant. I hope that is a good explanation, if not I can elaborate, but that would be a really long post. LOL!
Cool - that sounds like something I would have loved when my boys were little! If I do a blog post on it for F&F can I use a few of your comments? Thanks!
Absolutely! Let me know if there is anything else you need.
Thanks!
Jamie
Good job Maxine - keep up the workouts. As for sugar, I wish I had a solution. I've heard folks talk about its addictive nature. My dad has a problem with it and frequently goes "sugar free" as much as possible. Prayers and hugs!
