Hi friends!  Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything here on the Group - perhaps you've been as busy as I have and haven't noticed!

We find ourselves in the midst of Lent - a wonderful time to change those things in our lives that cause us stress and separate us from Jesus.  The Church, in its wisdom, encourages us to pray, to fast and to give alms as we anticipate the celebration of Easter.

How is your Lent going this year?  Have you given up on your Lenten practices, or do you find yourself refreshed and renewed by your chosen devotions and sacrifices?  Is this Lenten season helping to renew you "heart, mind, body and soul"?

Lent is going here...trying to get some reading done to help me gather my thoughts on my vocation, but need to work on that a bit more...my Lenten sacrifice is giving up pop...and I have to say, it has been much more difficult than I thought it was going to be...its a good thing for me to give up, but it has been very hard.

A strange thing has helped me to feel that I am in a way renewing and refreshing my whole self though, and that was giving up a fitness group that I had been a part of for over 3 years...it was the stroller strides group that I had loved so much, but sadly under new management it was no longer the faith filled blessing it had been for so long. I felt God calling me towards other friends, and endeavors and though I've only been away from the group for about a week, I feel refreshed and renewed and much more positive and productive.

Wishing everyone a very blessed Lenten season!

Jamie - good luck with your Lenten devotion of giving up soda - I have done that in previous years and know the difficult time you can have with giving up something that is almost a physical addiction. I love your comment too on the group situation - It's funny how sometimes the things we do that are meant to help us can become counterproductive. This seems like a great time to re-evaluate the groups we commit to and ask how they are benefiting us spiritually and physically. Thanks for sharing!
I teach at a private Christian school and our school superintendent challenged all of us to not say a single mean thing about anybody throughout all of Lent. We all raised our hands in agreement and it has been the most challenging thing that I have tried. I don't consider myself a gossip either! Of course, the hardest place to accomplish this is at home. I have had to repent numerous times. It has proved to be an inspired Lenten exercise.
