They are wire wrapped in cotton floss and then dressed in wool felt that I embroider. Their heads are wood that I paint. Homespun is great! I have actually seen my dolls get better and better with time. All you need is practice. I would love to craft over tea! But, I'm not sure what I would do with my kids!

p.s. Jennifer - what are your dolls made from if they're not rag dolls? I thought they were cloth. They're gorgeous, too. I made a dolly for my daughter the other year but it's absolutely no where near as cute as the dolls you and Veronice make! Mine is more, erm, homespun! ;0)

Hi Veronica and welcome! The dolls you make are just lovely - and such a generous spirit to send them to children in need. I love it. Don't you love the term craftivism? I can't take credit for that, though. I heard it somewhere and filed it in my brain to use. I'm excited by the possibilities for crafters to make a difference to someone. Too bad we weren't all close enough to get together to create things together over tea!

Wow! What a great photo to have. Your dolls are cute. I have yet to try a rag doll though I do sew. I think it would take me a while to master it enough to give though. Good work!

Sorry about the copied picture and the ginormous-ness of it. I don't know how to edit my comment! Argh. Newbie ...

Jennifer: I'm familiar with your dolls since I follow your blog. : ) Too cute. I'm mostly all about paper dolls (hence my Paper Dali blog), but I've been having a lot of fun with felt and just sewing up things. It's definitely a learning process, but it's fun.

I understand being busy! We're a homeschooling family, too, but crafting is therapy. :D

Hmm. Some pictures of dolls I've sewn ... Eep, I hope I'm adding these images correctly ... Here goes ...

My fave pic is this one because it's the dolly I sewed for Dolly Donations being handed out to the orphans in Haiti:

Neat Veronica - what do your dolls look like? One type of the dolls I make looks like my picutre here. I am really busy homeschooling and caring for my kids but I squeeze doll-making in too! Thanks for the address and email Karen - I will see what I can do for them. God bless!

Hi, all. I just joined. : ) I didn't know there was a word for crafting for charities, but glad to have learned it. I've crafted for Dolly Donations and am crafting some dolls for Sarah's November project as well as done stuff for Craft Hope. When I had more time (i.e., before I worked full time, LOL), I also crocheted blankets for Binky Patrol. Right now, I find that it's just easier to work on little dolls for charity while I watch a flick with the husband or kids. ; )
