Faith and Family Connect

The Community for Catholic Moms

Is anyone here currently reading this? By St. Louis DeMontfort. It's not a very long book, but it takes awhile to get through it. In the preface of the edition I have, it has a quote from JPII where he mentions "how often I had to re read it to understand it." I've been working through it for more than a year and the most fundamental aspects of it are finally getting through to me.

I come from a non-Catholic background and it took me awhile to overcome my fears about "focusing on Mary too much." Even in the midst of that I knew Jesus was drawing me to Mary. Now I am finally getting it all into my heart, and for awhile now Mariology has been my favorite subject to study.

This is a wonderful book that I wish everyone would read!

Deborah,
I meant to post this in the Devotional Book section. Please feel free to move this post if needed! Thank you.
I have read it many times myself. I feel it is a very inspirational and valuable book written by a saint that will truly help form one in their spirituality. It's a must-read for any serious Catholic.

Wow Our Lady, certainly knows how to draw us in. She brings us closer to her Son in this way.
No I haven't read the book, but I get the feeling it has beena journey for you?

Hi leanne maree,
Yes it has been a journey! Jesus began showing me things about His Mother before I became Catholic.
One morning our family was visiting a church (which as it turned out was pretty anti-Catholic) and I was sitting there in the service, all of a sudden I heard Jesus say to me, "My Mother is your Mother." It surprised me and made me so happy. It kind of felt like when a man takes a woman home to meet his parents. :-)

I am so thankful to be getting to know Mary, and I feel I really need her help as a mom myself. I love her so much! How amazing that God shares her with all of us!
Hello, Amylisa! I just bought it this morning and read the first chapter. It kind of freaked me out a little bit, because like you I've been a little afraid of making Mary more important than Jesus. Little by little she has become an important part of my life. I read "Hail, Holy Queen" by Scott Hahn and it blew me away. Have you made the total consecration to Jesus through Mary? Our women's Bible study group at church has begun studying the book, and we'll have the chance to make the consecration on Dec. 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. I'm not sure if I'll be ready to make that leap just yet... :)
