I have been a fan of Danielle Bean for years and years and first heard of her through the Joy notes site. I was delighted to be invited to join this site.
I live in a small town in Queensland Australia.
we are a small Parish but support and help each other. we only have a visiting Priest once a fortnight, but we are fortunate enought to have Sister Mary , our resident Pastoral Care Leader. She is an inspiration to all her and supports all the Ecumenical services and activities. She will conduct funerals for other faiths in their absence. Sister Mary was our mentor when a group of 5 of us did the 'Beginning Theoligy' course. we all passed with flying colours. Mind you it took us nearly 3 years as we are all so busy here.
Would be nice to chat with someone from overseas.

Whereabouts in Queensland are you. I grew up in Brisbane, but lived in Longreach and Alpha. I've not heard of the Beginning Theology Course. I tried a Diploma of Theology this year but freaked out after I wrote the assignment and didn't sit the exam. Pity really, I got a distinction for the assignment.
Dear Christine,
I live in Jandowae, which is 50ks south west of Dalby. Great place here.
Where are you living now.?
The Diploma in Theology is too hard to start with, so I am impressed that you could get a distinction. I dont think I could try for a diploma. Anyway the Beginning Theology course is so much easier, but best done in a group situation. Do you have the book that you get for the Lenten Studies each year? It is advertised in that. Let me know if you can't find it and I will look it up for you. Or you can look at this link which tell you all about it . www.dow.org.au/news/beginning-theology
We did it through the Catholic Diocese at Toowoomba. We all got a certificate in the end. So that was good. Our Sr. Mary tries to train us to be pastoral leaders and said we needed some background in theology, so that was why we did it.
Thank you for your letter
Kind regards
Margaret
