Erika, right now there is a Latin Mass Community in Dayton, but we do not currently have our own parish. Pilarczyk allowed the FSSP a chaplaincy at Our Lady of the Rosary, but Schnurr has allowed the FSSP to have an actual parish, with all that entails, at Holy Family and the community at Our Lady of the Rosary will be no more. Here's the site: http://www.daytonlatinmass.org/

Thanks, Mary for the info on the neighborhoods...very helpful and gives us a starting point because doing this online is kinda weird, lol.

Monica, I noticed that Dayton has another FSSP parish as well or is this the same one? We would LOVE to attend a TLM with an FSSP priest...that would be a dream come true. I have to tell you all that you are SO BLESSED to have such beautiful parishes in Cincinnati...trust me...in Miami (where I'm originally from) there is maybe one that you can call beautiful but they don't even begin to compare. Our current one, is nice...so I thought, until I saw the ones you all have over there...WOW! They remind me of the beautiful churches in Spain! Amazing... :)

We are so looking forward to moving and living in Ohio, Lord willing. :) My DH has to find a job first...all in His (GOD) hands now...thanks ladies and hopefully, we can meet you soon! :)

I would say Abp Schnurr is much friendlier, most pastoral so to speak. He is very involved with vocations and the vocation director (friend of the family) likes him very much. It's hard to say on other points, since he is so new.

On another note about Cinci, what are people's thoughts on Abp. Schnurr vs Abp. Pilarczyk? Better, the same, worse? Thanks.

I don't know much about burbs in Cinci, but beginning July 4, there will be a FSSP parish in Dayton at Holy Family. That may not help with where to live, but it may help in finding a parish. I hope your move goes smoothly!

Hi Erika,
I noticed in your wall that you favor the Tridentine Mass. There is a parish called Sacred Heart in the Camp Washington neighborhood that has a weekly Mass approved by the Archbishop. That is not a good neighborhood to live in. However Western Hills/Green Township and parts of Colerain/Delhi townships have affordable homes in good places that are not too far. On the east side a good parish is to St. Gertrude's in Madeira (good neighborhood). Many others go to Old St. Mary's in Over-the-Rhine - gorgeous old church with Latin Mass - not a good neighborhood. Many of of west siders attend their local parish. It all depends on what you are looking for. Daily noon Mass at St. Teresa is very popular with homeschoolers. West side Cincinnati is very Catholic. I could walk to 6 churches easily. Many Catholic schools in the area as well.

Hi,
We might be moving to a burb in Cincinnati...could anyone suggest a nice (but not too expensive) area to live in? Also, how is the parish situation in your area? I'm living in NC right now and we are totally a minority here (being Catholic that is).
Thanks!
Erika

I am curious ladies. How do your children make the sacraments in your parishes in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Do your children attend PSR, or do you prepare them at hom?. Do they make First Communion with the parish First Communion celebration, or individually? What about Confirmation?
