I felt cheated somehow by this book.
I would love to discuss it with others who have read it because I was really bothered by several things and am wondering what I'm missing because it is getting tons of press.
1. Did anyone else feel that the priest's decision not to defend Church teaching on sexuality to his niece more strongly was a missed opportunity to teach through fiction?
2. Did the "surprise" ending really surprise anyone?
3. Did anyone else think the ending was just gratuitous?
Sorry to be so negative. There are good points and things that I enjoyed, but I was disappointed after all the hype. I guess I'm just more of a Michael O'Brien sort of gal.
I really would like some more discussion to help me see if I'm missing something that would make more sense of the story.
