Hi,
My youngest son has autism and is very sensitive to gluten. Do any ladies here have people in your families who need to be on a gluten free diet or other special dietary restrictions?

One source I've found that is very helpful is Living Without magazine. It's kind of hard to find without a subscription though.

LOL, yes I would agree with that! I will have to look for the Health Valley soups. I know a lot of broths and bouillons have gluten. College Inn has gluten on the ingredient list. I was happy to find that the boxed, Rachael Ray Chicken Broth is gluten free. Yaayyy! A regular, easy to find, national brand that's gluten free! I am always so happy to find those now. :-)

In reading food labels, I was so surprised that a plain old can of Campbell's tomato soup actually has added wheat gluten as an ingredient on the list. Who would have thought. I've heard that Heinz ketchup is GF, think I read that on a celiac website.

My son loves GF waffles with Nutella spread on them in the morning. I don't think Nutella has any gluten in it. I did find a specifically GF chocolate hazelnut spread at Whole Foods though so I wonder now. I tried it, it was just as good as the Nutella.

Our allergy doctor told me that you don't have to have a wheat or a gluten allergy for it to bother you. The problem is in how the gluten affects the brain. I think that is definitely the case with my son. He's tested negative for everything, but if he has gluten his behavior just goes haywire. I am so thankful to have learned about the gf diet.
The name of the cookbook is Make it Fast, Cook it Slow. It is a great resource. We have tried several recipes and there have been no complaints at dinner. :)
Thank you Becky! :-)
I just saw the slow cooker cornbread stuffing at that blogsite....YUM I am trying that one. My stepmother made the best cornbread stuffing, I hope I can get mine to taste like hers. Thanks again for the link!
