Okay, not actually a fetish, but I am DESPERATE to get rid of these things!!!

How do you get these little gnatty things out of your kitchen, after you've removed all fruit/vegetable matter, scoured counters, set up sticky tape "traps" and forbid children (on pain of banishment) to leave apple cores anywhere but in the outside trash.

Are there any tricks out there you could clue me in to?

i've set a "death trap" for them. leave a banana piece at the bottom of a small mouth jar. then cap them all in there once they've fallen for the bait.

my sister just shared with me the vinegar secret. leaving an open dish of vinegar on the counter wards the little buggers off. haven't tried it yet.
1. Pour a small amount of cider vinegar into a cup.
2. Snip one corner off a resealable or plastic sandwich baggie.
3. Invert the snipped corner into the cup, hanging above but not touching the vinegar.
4. Secure baggie to cup with a rubber band around the outside of the cup.
The fruit flies find their way down, but not back up.
Good luck!!!
Thanks, Lisa and Elizabeth! I'll try them both!

Put a plastic cup filled with cheap red wine in the area you wish to rid of fruit flies. They will land, drink and die drunk. Let it stay for a day. Refill as needed or as grossed out or until flies are gone. Tell husband and keep up high so kids don't get at it.
I am so happy I found these suggestions. Don't have them now but at least once a year I leave the bananas sit a day too long and now I have a solution! THANK YOU
